Nathan has opened with a first round of 1 over par 71 at the AT&T National tournament in Newtown Square near Philadelphia, the highlight being a hole in one at the par three 5th hole which, at that point, had taken Nathan to 3 under. "It was a slam dunk with an 8 iron," said Nathan soon after his round. "Unfortunately it didn't last as I dropped four shots after that but it is not a bad start. The game is not too bad, although I struggled to hit fairways and made very little." I made a double at the 13th after missing the green left and getting a little messy from there so that was annoying but overall not too bad." "This is a great track though," added Nathan referring to the layout at the Donald Ross designed Arnomink Golf Club. "Thick rough and the greens are fast although not as hard as during the practice rounds as they have been softened up a little.
