nathan-at-pgaA late birdie on day two of the PGA Championship has earned Nathan a place in the weekend field after a struggle for much of his second round.

After his opening round of 70 had him so well placed, Nathan struggled in the demanding afternoon conditions today.

Nathan appeared to be heading for a missed cut when he slipped to four over for the day through 10 holes. At that point he was on the cutline but he steadied the ship with a series of pars before a birdie at the par five 7th (his 16th hole) gave him the cushion he needed.

At 3 under Nathan is still well enough positioned for a couple of strong closing rounds to make considerable progress over the final 36 holes.
