Nathan has achieved a milestone by making the cut at Augusta National in his very first visit. A brilliant and nuggety par save at the last allowing him to finish at 3 over and while that was outside the cutline when he walked off the green it was clear on this more demanding day at Augusta National that it would eventually see him playing the weekend.
"I drove it average and made nothing but hung in there and the par at the last was great to get the job done," said Nathan soon after his round. The par Nathan was referring to came after a tee shot that went right and an attempted cut second which finished on the adjacent 9th fairway.
"I still had 105 yards for my third and finished just off the back of the green. There was not a lot of green to work with and it was very quick but it went in which has turned out to be crucial."
"When I walked from the green i was till trying to work out the ten shot rule and at that stage Ian Poulter was at 8 under so figured that 2 over was needed."
Nathan will play with Japanese star Yuta Ikeda at 11.05 in tomorrow's third round
