Nathan finished in 119th position at the completion of the FedEx series of events prior to the Playoffs and as a consequence gets his chance to improve that position in the opening event of the Playoffs this week at the Barclays event in New Jersey.

He will need to improve however as only the leading 100 players of this week's field of 125 will advance to next week's Deutsche Bank Championship in Boston.

Nathan has not enjoyed good success in this event in the past although on only one previous occasion has he played at this week's venue, the Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus in New Jersey. That came in 2008 when he followed an opening round of 77 with a much improved 67 and although he missed the cut he arrives with good memories of his last experience at this classic AW Tinllinghast design.
