Speaking from Las Vegas this morning where he will play this week's Justin Timberlake Shriners Children's Hospital Championship, Nathan has outlined his thoughts for the remainder of this year's schedule.
Intially it was Nathan's intention to head back to Australia at the completion of this event but there are one or two issues that have convinced him to stay on and play the next few events. Firstly Jason is currently in second position in the Kodak Challenge for which US$1 million dollars is up for grabs at the completion of the final event of the season. The Challenge is played over a season long series of tournametns at which one hole per week is selected as the hole for which a score is taken. Throughout the season the player with the best score in 18 of those holes wins the huge cash prize.
Nathan trails Kevin Streelman by just one shot in that contest and clearly that alone is an incentive to keep going but now with the possiblity of a start at the World Golf Championship event in China, the HSBC Champions tournament, he is rethinking his schedule for the remainder of the year. The hole to be used for the Challenge this week is the 560 yard par five 16th at the TPC Summerlin.
"I will now play this week's event and next week in Scottsdale then play the HSBC in China if I make the field and then possibly the event in Orlando. It is still a little up in the air but we shall see what develops over the next couple of weeks and whether I make the field for China."
Nathan is playing this week's event for the third occasion but has not had much luck, making just one cut and even then finishing well back. "I have tried to take it easy the last week or so at home but will get stuck in tomorrow and over the next few weeks."
