Nathan has made a great start to the Honda Classic
at the PGA national at West Palm Beach in Florida, his opening round
of 65 giving him the early lead,
In tough, windy conditions Nathan did not drop a
shot, his first birdie coming at the par four 13th (his 5th hole of the
day). He added another at the 18th to make the turn at two under and
then added further birdies at the 3rd, 5th and 8th holes and when he
finished his round he had the clubhouse lead by two.
Nathan today played in the company of Vijay Singh and Padraig Harrington.
"I wasn't really expecting this," said Nathan after his round. "I have
been a little up and down this year to date but fortunately I got a
couple of good breaks early and managed to take advantage of those. My
second to the 11th which was my second hole held up on the bank and I
managed to make par and then I holed a lengthy birdie putt at the 17th.
I made a few nice par saves coming in and topped it off with three
birdies so am very happy in these conditions."
"It is a tough golf course but everything went right today."
